Product Details
The FET Compressor is an impressively faithful modeling of one of the most iconic compressors of all time. FET Compressor is loved for its aggressiveness and its tendency to add some tasty distortion to the sound source when driven hard. This compressor loves to be slammed and abused. But few things are so good they can't be improved, so we added a couple of nice features that makes it even more flexible than the hardware original.
In general, the FET Compressor can be used for deeper gain reduction than you would normally use with any compressor. The reason is that even at extreme settings, the FET Compressor shows no trace of the pinched sound many other compressors make when you push them hard. This ability for strict gain control is not least useful on lead vocal tracks that need to be kept in the listener's face. The distortion also adds a nice grit to the voice, highly useable in rock mixes but in no way limited to that.
Another common use for the FET is in drum mixing, where many engineers use it on room microphones, overheads or across the entire drum buss. Used this way, the FET Compressor has a way of bringing out a large, explosive sound in the Led Zeppelin vein. This is also an application where parallel compression is a useful technique, so we added the Parallel Inject control to facilitate this. To reduce kick drum pumping or let the bass guitar's low end bloom, use the side chain filter.
But there are still many more uses for the FET. Bass, acoustic guitars, pianos - bring out some edge or use the compressor's fastest attack setting to round off any transients.

Softube Transient Shaper DetailsBeing able to control the attack and decay of a sound is tremendously useful for anyone mixing music. But Softube's Transient Shaper goes beyond that due to the fact that it's a dual band processor. This means that the user can set it to affect only the treble or bass portion of a soundâ'separately for the Sustain and Punch parametersâ'and leave the rest untouched. This opens up a new realm of possibilities.
Transient shaping has become a vital technique in music mixing. The ability to sharpen or soften the onset of a sound, as well as lengthen or shorten the decay, has proven very useful for giving each sound just the right size and position in the mix. Transient Shaper takes this concept one step further, by letting the user affect either the entire frequency rangeâ'as most similar toolsâ'or only the treble frequencies or bass frequencies.
Use cases
For example, on drum overheads, this means you can turn up the Sustain knob and set its frequency control to Wide. This will simultaneously stretch out the room sound and cymbals, as well as give you more sustain and boom to the toms. But let's say you don't want boomier toms. Then you set the Sustain knob's frequency control switch to Hi, in which case the Sustain processing only affects the high frequencies, i.e. the cymbals and room, but leaves the toms just the way they are. Set the switch to Lo, and hear how you now only get boom from the toms, but the room sound and cymbals stay unaffected.
More than percussion
The dual band operation makes Transient Shaper useful for much more than drum and percussion sounds. Give a vocal track clarity and presence by adding some high frequency transientsâ'add Punch with its frequency slider set to Hi. Or create a darker and more rounded sound that oozes with vintage vibe by instead turning down the Punch knob. Use it on piano, bass, guitar, electronic drumsâ'Transient Shaper works on a wide range of sound types.
The crossover frequency is user selectable, as is the Punch behavior (Fast or Slow). We also added an output distortion section called Clip.

Softube Transient Shaper Plug-In
Softube plug-ins have been updated to v2.4.51.
Changes in v.2.4.51:
- Fixed an intermittent crash when opening a Cubase project with VST3 plug-ins (fixed in 2.4.50 and also in Cubase 9.5.20).
- Disabled Preset Collection in Tape Multi Track due to issues with preset recall (fixed in 2.4.50).
- VST2 and AU plug-ins can sometimes crash if multiple windows of the same plug-in are open (fixed in 2.4.49).
- In Preset Collection, if the preset image is changed many times, the file size can grow (fixed in 2.4.48).
- When scanning AU plug-ins, the CPU and memory load can be high (fixed in 2.4.47).
- Some minor fixes to the Weiss DS1-MK3 presets (fixed in 2.4.47).
Weiss DS1-MK3
Softube have launched a plug-in version of the Weiss DS1-MK3, a revered digital hardware mastering processor, regarded by luminaries such as Bob Katz as 'the most transparent, refined, flexible, and least digital-sounding dynamics processor”. The original compressor/limiter/de-esser is beyond the reach of most mortals, costing around $10,000, so $549 ($499 with intro offer) seems rather reasonable.
Officially licensed and endorsed by Daniel Weiss, the DS1-MK3 plug-in is a line-by-line code port of the original digital hardware and processes at resolutions up to 32-bit/192kHz. It also offers five limiter algorithms — two more than the original unit.
Mastering Maximizer
The same algorithm is also employed in Softube’s new Mastering Maximizer plug-in, a simplified version of the Weiss DS1-MK3, costing only $199. The Mastering Maximizer offers file ‘flavours’ of limiting: Transparent, Loud, Punch, Wide, and De-ess.
Critically, the processes going on within the plug-in have been designed by experienced mastering engineers, so “it can’t sound bad” claim Softube.
Volume 2
Softube have updated their ‘everything you need’ bundle as well, adding three new products: the above Weiss MM1 Mastering Maximizer, Tape and the Fix Phaser. Fnaf 1 free download pc. These are joined by a plethora of other tools such as electronic instruments and amp rooms, EQs and compressors, modulation effects, reverbs and delays.
Volume 2 is out now and costs $499, although if you move fast you can snap it up for the introductory price of $399.

Cubase and Console 1
While Console 1 — the hardware mix control platform — already works with all major DAWs, Softube’s latest collaboration with Steinberg means there are now extra layers of integration within Cubase. For instance, it’s now possible in Cubase to control DAW track selection, solo/mute, volume, pan, send level and more, directly from the Console 1 hardware, speeding up the mixing process.
This news is doubly interesting considering Softube have recently dropped the price of their Console 1, with the MkII versions now costing around £399/$499.
This new Cubase integration is a free upgrade for Cubase Pro 9.5 users.
The world of audio production is awash with distortion plug-ins but Softube’s latest offering looks like something unique. Harmonics features five component-modelled analogue-style distortion types but adds all-new 'Dynamic Transient Control' technology for ensuring that you don’t destroy your dynamics.

Whether you’re looking to give your guitars or basses a bit more grit, or just makes those drums a bit more edgy, distortion is your friend… until it isn’t. It’s surprisingly easy to overdo it with distortion, killing transients and blotting out the detail.
According to Softube, Harmonics takes a new approach to handling dynamics. It listens and analyses the audio, preserving detail and dynamics, even after heavy distortion has been applied.
High and low-cut filters make this a more useful tool, as does a mix knob for when you’re looking for parallel processing.
It’s available now for an introductory price of $99 until the end of November, $149 thereafter. Hear it in action here:
